The Dallas Cowboys received some positive news on Tuesday. Even without making a transaction themselves.

That is because the New York Giants have signed quarterback Daniel Jones to a four-year extension worth $160 million. Which equates to $40 million per year and locks Jones in with the Giants for the foreseeable future.

Obviously, the Cowboys have to like that they will continue to play against Jones twice a season. Dallas has had their way versus the Giants with Jones at quarterback, holding a 6-1 record in that timeframe.

Additionally, the Cowboys have made Jones struggle individually in their meetings, too. Jones has posted a 78.8 passer rating with four touchdowns and three interceptions versus Dallas in his career.

Therefore, the Dallas defense has to be licking their chops about this news.

Micah Parsons, in particular, has made life hard for Jones. The All-Pro phenom defender has totaled 13 tackles and two sacks in just four matchups with the Giants in his career. Several more pressures that Jones has felt in those games, too.

The Giants will be on the hook for a similar type of deal that the Cowboys made with Dak Prescott. It is clear that there is a pretty big difference between the two NFC East signal callers.

Furthermore, the Giants also made the move to franchise tag running back Saquon Barkley. By doing so, New York will pay Barkley $10.09 million for the 2023 season and keep the explosive back in the Big Apple for at least one more year.

Brian Daboll had a strong first season as head coach for the Giants. New York is hoping that these two moves will get the Giants back into the postseason after reaching the Wildcard Round.

All in all, the move to extend Daniel Jones is certainly not the worst news for the Cowboys. Based on the four-year sample size, the Dallas Cowboys should be in store for more victories over their rival.
