The Dallas Cowboys entered the 2022 NFL Draft with multiple positions to address. That list included offensive line, wide receiver, and edge rusher.

Dallas identified players at each of those positions in the first three rounds of the draft. The hope, from the Cowboys' point of view, is that the team grabbed potential replacements for La'el Collins, Amari Cooper, and Randy Gregory at the fraction of the cost.

Jalen Tolbert was the pick that the Dallas Cowboys made that has a real chance to make a day-one impact. The wide receiver out of South Alabama fell to the third-round, where the Cowboys scooped him up.

Tolbert starred on the collegiate level, becoming an all-conference performer and emerging as a top pass catcher. He eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving and hauled in eight touchdowns in back-to-back seasons to end his amateur career.

PFF tabs Tolbert as potential steal for Cowboys.

When you add in his production, 4.48 speed, and all-around game, there is a lot to like about Jalen Tolbert. NFL Draft guru Dane Brugler ranked the newest Cowboys receiver just outside the top-50 overall prospects in the 2022 class.

"Although he doesn’t have elite top-end speed, he has fluid footwork and uses slight hesitation in his route breaks so he can mash the gas and create pockets of separation," Brugler wrote in his draft guide. "Overall, Tolbert needs to tighten up a few areas of his game, but he has NFL starting traits with his ability to track deep or sink and work back to the football."

Dallas is hoping to get instant impact out of Tolbert with Cooper and Cedrick Wilson off to new teams. Especially with Michael Gallup recovering from a torn ACL that could cause him to miss the beginning of next season.

There is a lot that points to Tolbert carving out a meaningful role as a rookie. Dallas went out and signed James Washington, but the veteran deep threat should not prevent the first-year target from emerging in the receivers room.

Pro Football Focus sees Tolbert being a steal, at least in terms of fantasy football value. Additionally, the major media outlet views the South Alabama product as a breakout candidate in the NFC.

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys will need some offensive firepower right out of the gate. Jalen Tolbert has the ability to provide exactly that.
