The Dallas Cowboys enter their bye week at 4-2 facing a huge question: How can they get better as the trade deadline quickly approaches?

This year, the NFL's trade deadline is set for Tuesday, October 31st at 4 p.m. ET. The Cowboys have until then to pull off a move for somebody currently on another roster. While they have a good roster, it's clear they could use some help if they want to take down the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC. Playcalling must improve, sure, but this is a league of players.

So, will the Cowboys be buyers this year? NFL insider Jordan Schultz appears to believe that they will.

"I think Dallas is going to be aggressive," NFL insider Jordan Schultz said on the Maggie and Perloff show. "At 4-2 it feels like, 'Okay, we can go get someone.' I still think they need a little bit more secondary help. We've talked about (DaRon) Bland playing well, but I think they would like getting another corner."

In recent years, the Cowboys have been relatively quiet during the trade deadline period. Last year, they got defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins, their first in-season trade since 2019. But as for a big-name trade, you need to go back to 2018 when they got WR Amari Cooper in exchange for a first-round pick.

This year has felt like the closest the Cowboys have come to in recent memory to be legit Super Bowl contenders. The loss in San Francisco was a reality check, however, and the deadline is the single biggest chance they've got to make a significant addition to the team.

Schultz is right regarding the need for a cornerback. Even though Bland is slowly becoming one of the biggest playmakers across the entire NFL at his position, the Cowboys are one injury away from disaster in their secondary. Trevon Diggs' season-ending injury certainly left little margin for error. You can't ever have too many cornerbacks.

But the Cowboys could look at other positions as well. They've dealt with injuries at linebacker and they're really not that deep at wide receiver.

A to Z Sports' own Tyler Browning looked at three potential trades the Cowboys could pull off as the deadline approaches. You can check that out below.
