The Dallas Cowboys have rushed for over 160 yards in two of their last three games behind the one-two punch of Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard. Elliott, now in year seven, hasn't cracked the 100-yard mark yet this season, but he's run with conviction and looked fresh.
Elliott has achieved a plethora of milestones in his career from winning two rushing titles to being named an All-Pro. This Sunday, as the Cowboys hit the road to face the Philadelphia Eagles, Elliott will more than likely reach another one.
With just 38 scrimmage yards this week, Elliott will join Hall of Famers Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett as the only three running backs in Cowboys history to accumulate 10,000 for their careers.
Elliott has had quite a bit of success against the Eagles, including reaching 1,000 yards for the fourth time in his career against them in Philadelphia in last year's season finale. With another trip to Lincoln Financial Field on the horizon, Elliott spoke on what the atmosphere is like playing the Eagles in primetime.
“I don’t know if there is anything like playing the Eagles. Especially at night.
“It’s electric in the stadium and emotions will be high.”
Elliott was on the verge of having a big year for the Cowboys in 2021. He was third in the NFL in rushing with two 100-yard games after five weeks. Unfortunately, Elliott suffered a torn PCL that limited his effectiveness, but he didn't miss a game with it, which speaks to his level of commitment to the team.
Elliott's role as the Cowboys' bell cow back is over because of the talents of Pollard. However, he's still a steady runner between the tackles and excellent in pass protection, and his value to the Cowboys is immense despite what uneducated onlookers say.
