It is no secret that fans of the Dallas Cowboys are also massive fans of running back Tony Pollard.
The young RB had a bit of a breakout season last year. Fans wanted him to get increased playing time, and the Cowboys have given him exactly that.
Last season, Pollard had 169 touches. This season, he has 232 touches so far.
His increased playing time has led to a lot of success on the field. Pollard eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career.
According to Pro Football Focus, he was one of the four best runners in the entire NFL.
This advanced stat of the week is powered by Boston Scientific!
This may not surprise too many folks.
Pollard's production was efficient, especially compared to fellow Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott found success at times this season and scored often.
That being said, the offense is definitely less explosive with Zeke in the game compared to Pollard.
Pollard provides more in the passing game than Elliott. Additionally, he can lineup out wide at times in order to give defenses more unique looks.
Overall, Pollard makes the Cowboys a much better offense, and PFF sees that clearly.
They rank him alongside three of the most productive RBs in the league. They're all impressive talents.
The Cowboys will want to use a heavy dose of Pollard this weekend to get an opening round victory in the playoffs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
