The NFL trade deadline is this afternoon. Naturally, there is speculation about whether or not the Dallas Cowboys will make a splash.

Dallas traded a late draft pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins. The move was made to improve the run defense, which has been the big hole on an otherwise stellar defense.

With that move in the rearview mirror, the Dallas Cowboys still have options on the table. Jerry Jones noted on Tuesday that the Cowboys "got some things" that they are "entertaining" ahead of the approaching deadline.

With that in mind, wide receiver would seem to be the obvious position to target. CeeDee Lamb has proven to be a go-to weapon and Michael Gallup had his best game of the season last week. Still, there's not a ton of trusted targets in the receiver corps.

Therefore, there is some smoke that the Cowboys look to acquire a pass catcher ahead of the NFL deadline. ESPN's Ed Werder reported that an NFL general manager said that Dallas is looking at potential trades.

Three names jump to mind. One is unlikely, but a different target has consistently been brought up in trade rumors over the last few weeks.

DJ Moore, Carolina Panthers WR

The Skinny: Carolina Panthers Pro Bowl wide receiver DJ Moore might be the gem of the trade deadline. The problem? Carolina has insisted that he won't be traded. Still, that has not stopped his name being brought up.

Moore is a game-changing talent at 25-years old and would be a huge get for any contender. His costly contract, combined with a likely big price tag in a trade, makes this unlikely. However, it is fun to think about Moore in the Cowboys' offense.

Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans WR

The Skinny: Another receiver getting trade hype is Houston Texans wideout Brandin Cooks. The veteran receiver has produced on every team that he's been on — Patriots, Rams, Saints, and Texans — and can line up all over the field. He is a quarterback's best friend and has the ability to hurt defenses in multiple ways. Houston is reportedly asking for a second-rounder in a potential deal.

Moore, Jeudy, or Claypool

The Skinny: Pick your receiver. Elijah Moore, Jerry Jeudy, Chase Claypool have all been mentioned in trade rumors. Moore has fallen out with the Jets, Jeudy has been held back by inconsistent QB play, and Claypool has struggled with week-to-week consistency. Jeudy seems to be the biggest longshot of that group. However, there is a chance that one of that trio is dealt to a receiver-needy team on Tuesday.

It is probably safe to assume the Dallas Cowboys to stay put on deadline day. However, one of these moves would drastically help the Cowboys take another step in contention this season.
