The holiday season has been to the Dallas Cowboys. On Thanksgiving, they beat down the New York Giants, and now, Christmas has come early.
All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith has yet to take a snap in 2022 due to tearing his hamstring in August which put him on injured reserve. As the Cowboys make their push to the playoffs, Smith will eventually join the party soon as he is set to return to practice on Wednesday.
Smith is still one of the elite players at his position when healthy, which has been his bugaboo for several seasons. With rookie Tyler Smith getting more and more work at left guard, the thought is that he'll stay there once Tyron is back on the field, making the left side of the Cowboys' offensive line extremely formidable, especially with veteran Jason Peters there for insurance.
Smith's 21-day practice window is now open, and he'll need to be added to the active roster by the Cowboys during that time frame or be placed on injured reserve for the season.
"Any time Tyron Smith is on the field is a good day for the Dallas Cowboys," said Cowboys' head coach Mike McCarthy.
Cowboys fans agree, Mike.
