Two of the biggest stars for the Dallas Cowboys, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and cornerback Trevon Diggs, are up for contract extensions.
Dallas is in a great spot with Lamb due to picking up his fifth-year option seeing as he was a first-round pick. However, Diggs, who was taken in the second round of the same draft, is in a contract year in 2023.
The Cowboys and Diggs have had a great marriage so far with both sides benefiting. Well, the two sides have gotten together recently about renewing their vows, or in this case, a contract extension according to a report by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Saturday morning.
"This is a top cornerback in the league, one of the best, 17 interceptions the last three years. I'm told that the Cowboys and Diggs have had like some check-in moments about a potential contract extension over recent weeks this offseason. And so, certainly both sides could be open to that. The market now for cornerbacks at the top, about $21 million per year, so we'll see how close Diggs could get to that in the next few months."-Adam Wells, Bleacher Report
Diggs not only has the most interceptions in the NFL since 2020 but his 49 pass breakups rank second. For what he may give up here and there in coverage Diggs more than makes up for it with his superb instincts and ball-hawking skills which are aided by his wide receiver background.
When speaking of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, Diggs' name has to be at the top, and he's about to get paid like one of the elite guys soon.
