Fans of the Dallas Cowboys were in panic mode, so to speak, on Thursday when it was revealed that quarterback Dak Prescott had his surgically repaired ankle irritated by a pair of different cleats.

The eyebrows that were being raised were understandable considering what happened to Prescott in 2020. However, Cowboys' head coach Mike McCarthy wasn't worried about his top signal-caller when speaking about him Friday.

"I don't have any concern about playing Sunday," said McCarthy.

Prescott's health was somewhat concerning going into last season's opener, ironically against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who the Cowboys will host to kick off their 2022 campaign. He suffered a shoulder strain that kept him out for most of training camp. It didn't affect his play as the former fourth-round pick threw for 403 yards and three touchdowns, albeit in a 31-29 loss to the Buccaneers.

"I just saw him (this morning). He's doing fine," McCarthy said. "Just being cautious. Any time something happens close to where he had the injury, you just have to look at it and be smart. It's not a big deal."

Prescott said something similar on Thursday to reassure that he isn't in any way hampered by an injury.

"I promise you I'm great," Prescott said. "Just being very, very precautious. Switched shoes today, probably wasn't the best idea. We're good to go. Promise that."

Prescott is ready to roll and the Cowboys are hoping for another performance against the Buccaneers like he had last season or better, and of course a different outcome this time around.
