It's no secret Dallas Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz is dealing with a knee injury. The tight end even reaggravated an MCL sprain in last week's win over the Los Angeles Rams.
However, Schultz had no game designation in Week 6. He was limited in both practices to start the week before being listed as a full participant in Friday's walkthrough. Even still, Schultz is inactive for tonight's game versus the Philadelphia Eagles.
The first hint at this possibility came on Saturday when the Cowboys elevated Sean McKeon from the practice squad. It's difficult to know what the situation is exactly with the franchise-tagged tight end but at least they want to be cautious with him moving forward.
In his place, rookies Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot will once more be asked to step up. It isn't the first time this season as this will be the second game he misses this year. In week 2, Ferguson and Hendershot shined versus the Giants. Aside from combining for 56 receiving yards both excelled in the running game.
The Cowboys will need to run the football against the Eagles defense. Expect that area to be covered at tight end as the rookies have proven to be NFL-ready blockers.
