The Dallas Cowboys have already made some notable adjustments on the offensive side of the ball for next season. That includes a change at offensive coordinator, moving on from Ezekiel Elliott, and trading for Brandin Cooks.
Those moves will give the Cowboys a new look on offense. But Dallas is hoping for players on the roster to take a step forward in their development this offseason, too. Jalen Tolbert is among those that is under the microscope.
Tolbert was selected in the third-round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He failed to make any kind of real impact during his rookie season, despite Dallas needing somebody to step up out wide. Fortunately, the South Alabama product might be turning the corner.
In fact, according to Cowboys insider Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, Tolbert is impressing so far this offseason. So much that he is performing as one of the most improved players on the roster:
Perfectionism fueled Tolbert’s road to the Cowboys. It betrayed him upon arrival. After an unproductive rookie season, the Cowboys consider Tolbert their most improved receiver and on the shortlist for most improved player this offseason.
Tolbert has seemingly regained his confidence with the Cowboys after a subpar initial season in the NFL. Now, the rising second-year pass catcher has made it a priority to put playing over thinking.
“That’s one of the things that got me here but also can be a fault,” Tolbert said. “I’ve always been an overthinker. I want everything to be perfect. I want everything to be how it’s supposed to be. That’s just a trait of mine. … I feel like that kind of hurt me in a sense last year where I was thinking too much instead of just playing.”
Jalen Tolbert hasn't allowed his rookie campaign to derail him. Instead, he appears to be finding his stride ahead of a critical second season in the NFL. That's perfect news for the Dallas Cowboys offense.
