Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones might draw a ton of criticism (including from myself) for many football and non-football reasons but there's one thing he knows: How fans think and consume the NFL.
That's why it was great to hear his thoughts on iconic artist Taylor Swift attending the Kansas City Chiefs game last weekend to watch Travis Kelce, with whom she's reportedly "hanging out."
"It is hard to move that needle dramatically on a great feeling a great attraction in the NFL," Jones told 105.3 The Fan. "We get a lot of eye balls. She blew it off the charts. It is amazing. It makes you smile. But it just shows the depth of her following, especially with her core constituency. We all felt the same way when she's sitting up there with (Kelce's) mom and she's going nuts when he's playing and those hearts are popping out everywhere. How do you not get that? That's called images right there."
Jerry, you're officially a Swiftie.
But seriously, he had a great way of putting it. That moment really trascended football thanks in large part to Swift's fanbase. Her reactions to the game were awesome to see and proof of why she's so beloved by the Swifties: She's just a cool person that will even drop F-bombs next to Kelce's mom. Clips of players looking up to the suite and pictures of Taylor and Travis driving away from the stadium in a convertible is something right out of a Love Story.
Social media is filled with Swift and NFL content and there's no denying her presence at Arrowhead is bringing new eyeballs into the sport, something Jerry probably loves to hear about.
Sure, there are NFL fans that will complain about Taylor Swift-related content taking over the news cycle, but come on! Live a little. It's a really cool story involving our favorite sport and one of the greatest artists of all time. If not the greatest.
But we have enough to debate about as sports fans, so let's save that conversation for another day.
