He's one of three starters who won't be suiting up for the game as LG Tyler Smith and S Donovan Wilson are slated to miss their second consecutive game to start the 2023 regular season.
Last weekend, the Cowboys didn't bat an eye at their absences and hope to continue on that trend. But make no mistake about it, missing Cooks and Smith on offense is a huge blow when facing a defense as talented as the Jets'. Check out the full list of inactive players ahead of game time below.

Key observations
- Cooks being inactive will translate into seventh-round rookie Jalen Brooks getting his NFL debut on Sunday. The big-sized wide receiver out of South Carolina could get significant playing time on special teams as Jalen Tolbert's participation on offense is bound to see a significant bump. A strong performance for Brooks could earn him a bigger role with the team to avoid becoming a recurrent healthy scratch. This opportunity might not come very often for the rookie.
- Zack Martin, as expected following Saturday's practice squad elevations, is active and will play despite being questionable on Friday's injury report.
- Scott Jr. and Fehoko Jr. will both remain healthy scratches despite being drafted in April, a sign of how deep the Cowboys' roster is at the moment.
- Jourdan Lewis is finally back after practicing for two full weeks. A huge deal as he could easily be the next man up at cornerback.
