Dallas Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy talks to the media ahead of Week 3 vs Arizona Cardinals.

With how dominant the Dallas Cowboys have looked two weeks into the 2023 regular season, it's easy to forget the fact that they're dealing with a lot of injuries.

Left guard Tyler Smith and safety Donovan Wilson have each missed two games. Brandin Cooks, one of the biggest additions of the offseason, missed last week's matchup versus the New York Jets. In that game, All-Pro guard Zack Martin (who was already dealing with a groin injury), was in visible pain after suffering an ankle injury.

On Wednesday, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy provided a mixed bag of updates regarding the team's health.

Let's start with the positives, shall we? Tyler Smith (Hamstring), Brandin Cooks (Knee), Donovan Wilson (calf) and Chuma Edoga (elbow) are all returning to practice, per McCarthy via ESPN's Todd Archer.

The Cowboys will have a few interesting decisions to make ahead of their Week 3 road game versus the 0-2 Arizona Cardinals. In what's perceived as an "easy" game (they're road favorites by 12.5 points), do they rest Smith, Cooks, and/or Wilson?

Even though Donovan Wilson's absence hasn't kept the Cowboys defense from obliterating opponents, the team understands how important he is to the unit. After all, they financially proved that earlier in the year.

"His teammates feed off his play style," McCarthy told reporters via Michael Gehlken from Dallas Morning News. "He’s a big part of our standard of how we play defense."

Edoga returning to practice might not seem like a big deal but the veteran has been surprisingly solid for the Cowboys offense two weeks into the season. His potentially missing time could be a major issue if Tyler isn't back in the starting lineup.

As for the bitter side of the news, Zack Martin will be working with the rehab group. Listen, I won't ever bet against Martin being on the field come game time. He's a tough dude who has shown tremendous durability throughout his career. But the update is far from ideal.
