The Dallas Cowboys are on the edge of their seat ahead of their Week 9 showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles. Not only because it's a pivotal game for the NFC East but because one of their best player's status is up in the air in the lead-up to the game.
Tyron Smith, who missed the team's win over the L.A. Rams last Sunday, did not practice on Wednesday and is set to miss Thursday practice as well.
According to Forth Worth Star-Telegram's Clarence Hill, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy indicated the hope is for Smith to practice on Saturday to play on Sunday in Philadelphia. In the meantime, the All-Pro left tackle is participating in walkthroughs.
That falls in line with what's become the modus operandi of the 2023 Cowboys. McCarthy has previously indicated the coaching staff holds its last personnel meeting after Saturday's practice. Final decisions are usually made then.
Against the loaded defensive front of the Eagles, the Cowboys could use a healthy offensive line more than ever. Beyond Smith, Chuma Edoga is another name to watch.
After Edoga suffered a low ankle sprain, he's got a chance to play but is far from a guarantee. He's been a limited participant through the first two practices of the week and appears to be trending toward playing.
