The Dallas Cowboys have their fair share of injuries entering Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season. But the latest update out of New York is a major deal.

The Jets won't be playing kicker Greg Zuerlein – a former Cowboy – on Sunday. He has a groin injury and was downgraded to out on Saturday.

In a game expected to be a low-scoring affair (over-under is set at 38.5 points), losing your starting kicker is a dangerous proposition. If the Jets want a shot at the Cowboys without Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, they'll need an ugly slugfest to play out on the field with both teams exchanging field goals.

Of course, the Cowboys have no guarantee at kicker as they were reminded of when Brandon Aubrey missed his first extra point attempt. But the first-year NFL player bounced back and didn't miss any of his other extra points while making two field goals.

It's a slight edge on special teams yet one that could define the game if this indeed becomes a defensive battle for the entire day. Check out the full injury report below:

Cowboys Injury Report Observations

  • With the Cowboys using their two elevations on CB C.J. Goodwin and iOL Brock Hoffman, they're essentially confirming the green light for Zack Martin. NFL rules allow teams to have 48 active players on gameday as long as eight of them are offensive linemen. Not adding a second practice squad OL means the team has its 48 including Hoffman.
  • Brandin Cooks is looking to be a game-time decision. Sprained MCLs tend to take out players for at least a couple of weeks but the Cowboys aren't ruling him out for Sunday just yet.

Jets Injury Report

Jets announced on Saturday that Zuerlein was out (read above).
