It's clear that an injury report doesn't fully reflect the health status of a team. After all, only members of the 53-man roster need to be accounted for in it. That is to say, this week's Dallas Cowboys injury report doesn't tell the whole story.

Trevon Diggs' season has been over for a while now. C.J. Goodwin is reportedly done for the year, too. And Leighton Vander Esch remains on Injured Reserve.

With that disclaimer out of the way, the Cowboys' injury report for Week 8 was remarkably short on Wednesday, as it only included Juanyeh Thomas. Naturally, Cowboys Nation rejoiced on the team's health entering Week 8.

That changed on Thursday when All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith was added with a neck injury. Smith was a limited participant per the report. Patrik Walker from DallasCowboys.com reported the injury is "being treated with caution."

After the update, Smith's status for Sunday's game remains unclear. The Cowboys have played with their full offensive line in only two out of their first six games.

As for Thomas, he practiced in full both Wednesday and Thursday as he aims to come back from a hamstring injury that knocked him out of Week 6. The bye week certainly helped as the safety is trending toward playing on Sunday.

Thomas' presence on special teams is desperately needed as John Fassel's unit has had to endure multiple losses and changes, both to injury and the waiver wire.

For now, the good news is the Cowboys are looking mostly healthy out of the bye week (let me knock on every piece of wood in this room just to be safe). The team's status only raises the confidence level for a potential fifth win this weekend.

As head coach Mike McCarthy prepares his team for the Los Angeles Rams, he seeks to improve his impressive career "after the bye" record, which stands at 11-5. Four of those losses have been on the road.
