The Dallas Cowboys lost a key starter on offense during the very first drive of the game. Offensive lineman Connor McGovern exited the game with the help of medical staff after getting rolled up.
McGovern headed straight to the locker room after exiting the field, per the broadcast.
The Cowboys designated McGovern as the left guard starter after Tyler Smith was unexpectedly thrown into the left tackle role in the response of Tyron Smith suffering a severe hamstring injury.
Matt Farniok entered the game to take over left guard.
The Cowboys signed Jason Peters last week and could call him up to the 53-man roster next week. When they do so – assuming McGovern's injury is serious – the Cowboys could potentially play the 40-year-old at left tackle and slide Tyler Smith back inside to get the best group of 5 players. It will be a decision to monitor.
Update: At the start of the second half, McGovern was downgraded to OUT.
