The Dallas Cowboys were once known for not caring too much about the safety position. Well, those days are over.
Malik Hooker signed a three-year extension worth up to $24 million with $16.5 million in guaranteed money and an $8 million signing bonus on Friday. He joins former sixth-round pick Donovan Wilson who also got a three-year deal back in March worth up the $21 million with $13.5 in guaranteed money.
The details of Hooker's extension have now surfaced via ESPN's Todd Archer.
Base salaries
- 2023: $1.25 million
- 2024: $1.75 million
- 2025: $5.5 million (fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the league year)
- 2026: $6.5 million
Gameday roster bonuses
- 2023: $500,000
- 2024: $250,000
- 2025: $250,000
- 2026: $500,000
Five interceptions and the Cowboys make the playoffs: $500,000
Plays 85% of defensive snaps and the Cowboys make the playoffs: $500,000
Hooker can earn an extra $3 million in incentives and up to $28 million over the next four years.
