Dallas Cowboys football is back and unfortunately, so are injuries.

Starting safety Donovan Willson was carted off the field into the locker room on the team's first practice of training camp, per Cowboys insider Jane Slater. According to the report, Wilson will undergo X-rays on his right calf. The severity of the injury remains unknown at the time of the article.

According to Clarence Hill from the Forth Worth Star-Telegram, Wilson was "not happy" when taken to the injury tent.

Wilson has become one of the most important Cowboys on Dan Quinn's defense as he led the team in tackles last year. His versatility and high-caliber play led him to sign a three-year deal worth up to $24 million.

The former sixth-round draft pick stands out from the Cowboys' talented safety room thanks to his ability to do it all. He can play a deep zone just as smoothly as he can rush the passer as a blitzer or make the tackle for loss by seemingly teleporting into the backfield to make the play.

It was his versatility that made him the Cowboys player with the second-most defensive snaps, beating the other two starting safeties Malik Hooker and Jayron Kearse.
