The Dallas Cowboys made a big mistake last offseason. That mistake was failing to surround Dak Prescott and the offense with enough quality and consistent weapons to make plays in big moments.

Dallas obviously traded away Amari Cooper. But they also let Cedrick Wilson walk for nothing, too. And the Cowboys failed to replace either, especially with rookie Jalen Tolbert unable to make an impact in year one.

However, Dallas has seemingly taken a different approach this offseason. That was highlighted by trading for Brandin Cooks, who immediately provides Prescott with a proven and dangerous pass catcher.

Dallas does not appear to be complacent with just Cooks, however. Which is a good sign with the 2023 NFL Draft only a few weeks away and quickly approaching.

The Cowboys have met with some notable wide receiver prospects that are projected to go early in April. Among those include North Carolina wideout Josh Downs and TCU weapon Quentin Johnston

Johntson is widely considered to be one of the three best receiver prospects in the draft, along with USC product Jordan Addison and DFW native Jaxon Smith-Njigba. His ability to go up and get the football while also providing an offense with a downfield threat is attractive.

Downs, meanwhile, is expected to be taken somewhere in the first 50 selections with an outside shot to sneak into the first-round. He is a smooth route runner that creates separation and throwing windows for the quarterback.

The Dallas Cowboys have other needs to fill, and there is no guarantee that either Johnston or Downs will be picked by the team. Nevertheless, it's clear that the Cowboys understand that they made a mistake last offseason and continue to correct it.

Which is great news for Dak Prescott and the team as a whole. The more playmakers, the better, of course.
