Much like every other month of the year the Dallas Cowboys are in the headlines once again.

During the season it is usually something along the lines of "Can the Cowboys win the Super Bowl?" During this particular offseason fans have come to hear about their favorite team in the headlines for the wrong reason: How they've handle contracts of their "Big 3".

Recently, franchise quarterback Dak Prescott has been the primary subject of these topics as he is entering the last year of his lucrative four-year $160 million deal that he signed in 2021 after playing under the franchise tag in 2020.

The discussion amongst Dallas and national media alike as of late has been "Are the Cowboys going to re-sign him?"

The answer should be an obvious yes, and yet the Cowboys didn't make it seem like it was, going as far as claiming that they don't have to get it done this year. In response, Prescott has been vocal about his comfort playing on a contract year and earlier in the offseason he even alluded to the possibility of signing his next deal elsewhere.

Additionally, the Cowboys have reportedly not made an offer to the quarterback yet and negotiations have yet to heat up. All of this has led to many fans believing 2024 could be Dak's last season in Dallas.

Or at least that was the case until this weekend, when Jeremy Fowler of ESPN revealed the Cowboys are "all in on re-signing Dak Prescott" even if they hadn't shown it yet, saying the following on TV:

They are all in on re-signing Dak Prescott…Eventually. They just haven't shown it yet, but behind the scenes, they've made it clear they don't want [Prescott] to hit free agency in 2025. They want him to be the quarterback of the future but the negotiations so far have been described to me as passive. So sometime this summer, they're gonna have to ramp up the heat a little bit, come with a strong offer, and get the ball going. They have made it clear they are going to do that, they're just slow playing it a little bit. You have some other quarterbacks comps like Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville, Tua and Miami will probably get something done at some point, sort of setting the stage for themselves."

This whole offseason it has very well seemed that the Cowboys have been sitting around doing a bunch of nothing. This report, if it holds to be true can provide some solace that the Cowboys are prioritizing players who are crucial to the franchise.

Looking at the state of the quarterback position around the NFL and Prescott's level of play after a season in which he finished second in MVP voting, it should've always been obvious that the Cowboys' intention remains to extend Dak.

With Dak, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons all coming up for contract extensions soon, it is refreshing to hear that they seem very intent on keeping these stars in Dallas.
