Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys open the season on Sunday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The matchup is a rematch of last season's opener and is expected to be a showdown of two contenders in the NFC.
However, the Dallas Cowboys are already dealing with several injury concerns. The latest bit of news surrounds Prescott.
NFL insider Jay Glazer reported on Sunday morning that Prescott had X-rays done on his ankle that was tweaked during practice this week. Dak Prescott was limited late in the week, but he did practice fully ahead of Sunday's game.
“It felt like something popped in his foot. X-rays were negative," Glazer said in his report about Prescott. "It seemed like he just popped some scar tissue. They brought him back yesterday. They ran him fully. He’s fully good to go.”
That is a pretty big injury scare. Dak Prescott has dealt with multiple injuries over the last few seasons, including an ankle injury that ended his 2020 campaign prematurely. Even though the results were negative, it is concerning.
Dak has no worries

Dak Prescott spoke on the injury ahead of his name popping up on the injury report this week. The Cowboys' quarterback told the media that "I feel great."
“Honestly, I feel great. Something may come up in the report, but as you know, that’s this league. If you don’t report a hangnail you’ll get fined. But I feel great," Prescott said. "I still feel the best I’ve felt in a very, very long time."
Furthermore, Mike McCarthy had the same sentiment. The Dallas Cowboys' head coach explained that the injury scare is "not a big deal."
"He's doing fine. Just being cautious. Any time something happens close to where he had the injury, you just have to look at it and be smart. It's not a big deal," McCarthy said this week.
The Dallas Cowboys do not seem the least bit concerned about Prescott and his status. It is worth noting that Prescott was not listed on the latest injury report. Still, any scare to Prescott is not the best news as Dallas prepares to kickoff the season.
Dak Prescott says he's fine. The Dallas Cowboys certainly need him to be.
