The Dallas Cowboys could get active in free agency depending on what happens with one key player.

The Dallas Cowboys already re-signed one of the team's defensive leaders this year as they're retaining safety Donovan Wilson with a three-year deal.

But what about linebacker Leighton Vander Esch?

That remains to be seen. And according to Cowboys insider Jane Slater, there's already competition for the former first-round draft pick.

But if a deal with LVE isn't done, it sounds like the Cowboys already have their eyes set on a potential Plan B. They have shown interest in Chicago Bears LB Nicholas Morrow, reported Dallas Morning News' Michael Gehlken.

A 2017 undrafted free agent, Morrow will be 28 years old next season. He's spent most of his career with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders and joined the Bears in 2022 on a one-year deal.

He's 6 feet tall and 225 pounds. While he isn't the biggest linebacker, his speed certainly makes a difference. Dan Quinn wants rangy linebackers who can fly to the ball and Morrow fits that description.

As LVE and Anthony Barr are free to negotiate with other teams, Dallas is likely to be in the linebacker market.

According to Gehlken, the Cowboys have previously shown interest in Morrow. If Vander Esch signs elsewhere, the Bears' veteran might as well start packing his bags.
