After missing the Dallas Cowboys' Week 3 win versus the New York Giants, Dalton Schultz is expected to play on Sunday, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The tight end was limited with a knee injury all week and was listed as "questionable" to play on Friday's injury report.
Last Monday, Schultz was a game-time decision as the Cowboys decided to give him another week before getting him back in action.
In his place, rookies Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot did an impressive job, particularly blocking to get the running game going. Hendershot even made a clutch catch for 29 yards that set up Dallas for a touchdown drive that would tie the game at 13.
Of course, the Cowboys' offense will highly benefit from Schultz's return. The franchise-tagged tight end is a massive part of the offense, recording 104 targets in 2021. His reliable hands give his quarterback a consistent target to move the chains.
The tight end is not the only offensive reinforcement headed the Cowboys' way on Sunday. After being listed on the injury report without any game designation, Michael Gallup is also expected to make his 2022 season debut.
That will give Cooper Rush – and eventually Dak Prescott – more answers in the passing game. CeeDee Lamb will see friendlier looks as opposing defenses can't zero in their coverages on the wide receiver while forcing others to beat them.
The Cowboys, sitting at 2-1, are little by little seeing their offense heal.
