The Dallas Cowboys have exceeded most expectations early this season. Many felt that the season was going to go down the drain with Dak Prescott sidelined, combined with the week one showing.

Instead, Mike McCarthy and company have righted the ship in a big way. Dallas is a riding a four-game winning streak behind stellar defensive play and turnover-free offense. The Cowboys are just one game back in the NFC East and have the third best odds to make the playoffs.

Dak Prescott is expected to return to action in the near future. That will help improve the offensive output. Dallas is averaging just 18.6 points per game so far this season. Among the worst in the league. Prescott immediately makes the Cowboys more explosive and more efficient on that side of the ball.

Still, there is more that the Dallas Cowboys can do to improve on offense this season. In fact, there is one move that the front office could make that would pay off dividends as the Cowboys look to make a major push for a title.

Potential deal for Cowboys to explore

The Dallas Cowboys have some weaknesses on offense, despite the winning streak. Perhaps the most glaring hole is at wide receiver.

CeeDee Lamb has had big moments, Noah Brown has stepped up, and Michael Gallup has returned, but there is still room to improve. Making a deal for a pass catcher would have the chance to round out the offense in a big way.

Fortunately, there is one obvious trade target: DJ Moore of the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers fired head coach Matt Rhule this week, and all signs are pointing to the team going into full rebuild mode.

As a matter of fact, reports surfaced this week that teams around the league will be calling the Panthers in hopes of trading for some of the talent on their roster. Carolina will likely be looking to add draft capital in exchange for key players.

DJ Moore is a dangerous weapon on the outside with the ability to break a game open with his route running and playmaking skills. Unfortunately, he has not enjoyed a successful 2022 season with Baker Mayfield throwing passes. His talent is obvious, but the Panthers are not getting the most out of it.

Dallas could offer a second-rounder — or even more — for the 25-year-old, depending on what the market becomes for the Pro Bowl wideout. It is important to note that Dallas traded a first-rounder for Amari Cooper ahead of the 2018 trade deadline. Meaning, there is a precedent of the franchise making this kind of deal. And that move paid off in a big way.

The Dallas Cowboys opted to move on from Cooper earlier this offseason in a head-scratching deal. Moore's average salary is a tad more than Cooper's, which could ultimately be the deterrent for the Cowboys' front office.

However, such a move would have the potential to make the Cowboys more dynamic on offense and push the team over the top in 2022.
