Tom Brady's retirement hit the NFL by storm on Wednesday when he announced via a straight-to-the-point video that he was done playing in the league he dominated for over two decades.
"For good," said the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback.
As anyone could've predicted, that meant a solid 24 hours of honoring the G.O.A.T. NFL Network,ESPN, and every sports TV channel talked about it nonstop while showing highlights of Brady's illustrious career.
But social media was an excellent place to find some stories about Brady as he rides on to the sunset (kind of, you'll still see him on your TV on the FOX channel every weekend).
That includes the (quite literally) unique souvenir of a particular Dallas Cowboys defender.
Cowboys safety Jayron Kearse made an intelligent decision
Many, many players have caught touchdowns and interceptions from Tom Brady. But only one will be able to claim that he picked off Tom Brady for the last time WHILE eliminating him from his final playoff run.
That's Cowboys safety Jayron Kearse. The NFL veteran revealed on Twitter that he held on to the pass he picked off from #12 in the Cowboys' Wild Card win earlier this year. While he bragged about it, he also showed much-deserved respect to Brady by congratulating him on a "helluva career."
And hey, can't blame him. Every member of Cowboys Nation probably thought the same thing. After years and years of Brady getting the best of Dallas at every turn, at least the Cowboys were able to create a good memory against the accomplished quarterback.
In that game, the Cowboys pressured TB12 a whopping 24 times while allowing a mere 53% completion rate.
Brady deserves all the praise heading his way for the rest of his life. Heck, he deserves an entire wing in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
But let Kearse enjoy his unique souvenir. He earned it.
