The Dallas Cowboys are 9-3 at the midseason mark following a dramatic win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13. On top of that, they got some help from a rival that put the NFC East back in play for them.

Let's dive into the Cowboys' playoff picture entering Week 14, from who they'd play in the first round based on the current standings to their chances of stealing the division.

Yeah, here we go! White eighty set hut.

Cowboys' playoff picture if the season ended today…

Despite such a positive record, the Cowboys would still be behind the Philadelphia Eagles if the season ended today, which is why they currently sit as the fifth seed of the NFC. Here's the full standings:

  1. Philadelphia Eagles (10-2)
  2. San Francisco 49ers (9-3)
  3. Detroit Lions (9-3)
  4. Atlanta Falcons (6-6)
  5. Dallas Cowboys (9-3)
  6. Minnesota Vikings (6-6)
  7. Green Bay Packers (6-6)

If the season ended today, the Cowboys would travel to Atlanta to face the Falcons in the Wild Card round. In other words, the Cowboys would once again be traveling to face a questionable NFC South champion just like they did in January against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Can the Cowboys win the NFC East, though?

There's a chance, y'all! The Cowboys received a major boost in Week 13 when the 49ers took down the Eagles 42-19, handing Philly its second loss of the year.

While the Eagles are still the clear-cut favorites to win the division as the tiebreakers really favor them moving forward, the door has been cracked open for the Cowboys.

If they happen to land a win against them next Sunday, they'd even be the divisional leaders, even though that could be only temporary given if both teams win out after that and reach 14-3, the Eagles would get the tiebreaker (because of the fourth tiebreaking criteria, which would speak volumes about these two teams!).

In a few words, the Cowboys need to win out and the Eagles to lose two (including Week 14 in Dallas) in order to avoid a tie.

Philly has two games left against the New York Giants but also face the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks to close out the year. Could any of these teams give the Cowboys some help? It's a longshot but this is the NFL. Perhaps the best shot is the Seahawks, who recently scored 35 on the Cowboys.

Surprises take place more often than we admit in this league. One game at a time.
