Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy provided further updates on Monday around the health of right guard Zack Martin and running back Rico Dowdle.
The head coach mentioned both players are slated to work with the rehab group on Wednesday (as in they're expected to be non-participants in practice). However, McCarthy added both have a chance of playing next Sunday in San Francisco.
Earlier on Monday, Stephen Jones revealed on 105.3 The Fan that Martin's injury is a bruised quadriceps. He's also been dealing with an ankle injury since the loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3. Earlier than that, Martin had been listed on the injury report with a groin injury.
Dowdle's issue became clearer after an MRI on Monday, Jones said. He's dealing with a hip contusion. Jones added he'll avoid an extended absence from the playing field.
Some fans might be concerned about the status of Micah Parsons after he suffered an injury during the Cowboys' Week 4 win over the Patriots but as his return to the field indicated, he's not dealing with a serious injury. Jerry Jones confirmed after the game and McCarthy added it's not of "high concern" and that Parsons could be limited on Wednesday.
The Cowboys need all hands on deck by next Sunday as they'll prepare for a key game in the schedule: A revenge game against the San Francisco 49ers. The showdown carries a deeper meaning, the 49ers being the team that's eliminated Dallas in back-to-back playoff losses.
