It happened gradually, but the NFL schedule release day has turned into the social media team's Super Bowl, as Mina Kimes described in a recent ESPN segment.

Instead of posting the dates and the rivals in a boring old picture, teams are putting in the work with social media clips that range from a TikTok-style clip interviewing people on the street to 8-minute short movies and even animes. For the Dallas Cowboys, this resulted in a hilarious jab at QB Dak Prescott in the Jacksonville Jaguars' post.

The Jaguars' version of the schedule release featured a "season writer" for the team making up the script for last year's game. The idea played into last year's "NFL Scripted" trend which jokingly suggested the games are rigged and acted out.

In a callback to the 2022 game between the Cowboys and Jaguars that painfully ended with an interception after Prescott's pass bounced from Noah Brown's helmet, the Jags took the chance to troll the Cowboys QB when the writer gives Jerry Jones a made-up call:

"Hey Jerry, so we finished our script, we're going to end it on an overtime pick-6 but we need Dak to hit Noah Brown on the helmet so it ricochets into our guy's arms?" asks the writer before reacting to Jones' inaudible response.

"No. We could CGI it."

Obviously, it's all fun and games and nothing to take too seriously. Of course, Cowboys Nation didn't ask for a reminder of one of the most painful ends to a game from last season but you've got to give it up for the Jags. It was a funny troll.

In all seriousness though, the NFL schedule is finally out and you can check out the Cowboys 2023 season right here. Their schedule includes six primetime games including the opening Sunday Night Football game of the year against the New York Giants.
