The Dallas Cowboys made some intriguing acquisitions this offseason. Some bigger than others, but most have been important as the Cowboys look to get over the hump and take the next step in the postseason.
Among the additions to the roster is former Kansas State star Deuce Vaugh. The small-in-stature running back was a late-round selection that has wasted no time in generating hype ahead of his rookie campaign.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has taken notice of the 5-foot-5 playmaker. Dallas parted ways with Ezekiel Elliott, opening the door for another back to step up alongside Tony Pollard. Perhaps that is Vaughn.
"I’m excited," Prescott told the media on Wednesday. "That was (a pick) you get excited about when you see that story, going into it, knowing who he was, knowing his dad, thinking about how cool that would be if you could make that happen."
Vaughn is not only the small back out of Kansas State that caused terror for defenses each and every Saturday. He is also the son of Cowboys scout Chris Vaughn, which, as Prescott alluded to, made the selection that much more meaningful.
But the Cowboys rookie has the talent to potentially make a difference on the next level. At Kansas State, he amassed nearly 5,000 yards from scrimmage and over 40 touchdowns, drawing comparisons to Darren Sproles.
"I think he’s going to be a very talented player that can help us immediately," Prescott said when talking about the first-year weapon. Vaughn should have an opportunity to show what he can do, especially with Prescott's endorsement.
