The Dallas Cowboys have believed in right tackle Terence Steele since they signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

He's steadily developed into a very solid player, but unfortunately, he tore his ACL and MCL late last season. Despite this, the Cowboys placed a second-round restricted free tender on Steele.

On Thursday, Steele finally signed it, and is now on the books for $4.3 million in 2023.

The Cowboys want to work out a long-term deal with Steele and will have until April 26 to match any offer that's made to him. All signs point to Steele returning in 2023, but if the Cowboys decide to move on, they will receive a second-round pick as compensation.

Steele took over duties at right tackle as a rookie when La'el Collins got injured. He's played in 45 games with 40 starts over the last three seasons.

The next step for Steele is getting back healthy. Cowboys' executive vice president Stephen Jones said that he anticipates that Steele will be ready for training camp, but that remains to be seen.

Regardless, the Cowboys covered their tracks with this situation.
