The Dallas Cowboys are loaded defensively on the edge with Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, Sam Williams, Dorance Armstrong, and Dante Fowler. Well, they just got more ammunition.
Former second-round pick, Ben Banogu, who spent his first four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, has signed with the Cowboys.
Banogu is originally from Nigeria but moved to the United States with his family when he was six months old. They would relocate to Mckinney, Texas which is around 30 miles up north of Dallas and he attended nearby Prosper High School.
After two years at UL-Monroe, Banogu transferred to TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. He was named the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year in 2017 and was a two-time first-team All-Big 12 performer.
Banugo hasn't had that kind of luck in the NFL. Despite sacking future Hall of Fame quarterback Philip Rivers on his first NFL snap, Banogu has only logged 554 snaps for his career and nearly half of those came as a rookie (271). Also, he's only racked up 2.5 sacks (all came in his rookie year) in 50 games.
Now, the athletic edge gets to see if he can earn a spot in the rotation with the Cowboys.
