The Dallas Cowboys shored up a position that doesn't move the needle for the average fan of the NFL.
Veteran long snapper, Trent Sieg, was signed to a one-year deal on Wednesday, joining former first-round pick Takk McKinley who also inked a contract with the Cowboys.
Dallas found themselves in the market for a new long snapper after losing two-time Pro Bowler Jake McQuaide to the Detroit Lions recently.
Sieg spent his first five seasons with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders before he was released last week. He's played in 80 games during his career and logged 656 special teams snaps.
At the moment, Sieg is one of three specialists on the Cowboys joining kicker Tristan Vizcaino and punter Bryan Anger.
Special teams are the third phase of football, and although it's the least talked about, it can be the deciding factor in a win or a loss.
