One of the most important pieces of the Dallas Cowboys on the offensive side of the ball is dealing with a little issue.
Last Sunday against the Detroit Lions, running back Ezekiel Elliott took a big hit to his knee. Fortunately, Elliott finished the game, but he won't practice on Wednesday as he battles through the ailment.
Elliott suffered a torn PCL in Week 4 of last season. It was reported until after the Cowboys' playoff loss, and Elliott, the warrior that he is, didn't miss any games and had his fourth 1,000-yard season.
The mention of a knee injury with Elliott may cause some to gasp, especially seeing as this hit came on the same knee that slowed him down last season. However, Cowboys' head coach Mike McCarthy said it's not on the level of what he dealt with in 2021.
“It’s definitely classified as a knee sprain," McCarthy said.
After the Cowboys' 24-6 win over the Detroit Lions last week, Elliott talked about taking the hit to his knee.
“I think I got a contusion on it,” Elliott said. “Still need to go back there and talk to the trainers.”
Elliott had two rushing touchdowns against the Lions, both coming after the hit he took. The two-time rushing champ will work with the Cowboys' director of rehabilitation Britt Brown on Wednesday instead of participating in any team sessions.
The status of Elliott for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears will be determined later in the week.
A to Z Sports will have more details on this situation as they come to the forefront.
