The Dallas Cowboys are looking to win their fourth consecutive game this Sunday in the absence of quarterback Dak Prescott. Backup Cooper Rush has been serviceable without a doubt, thanks to the play of guys like wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
Fans of the Cowboys gasped a little on Thursday. It was reported that Lamb was dealing with a groin injury. However, the former first-round pick said he's good to go and that there are no worries.
"I'm fine," Lamb said. "We're good … I don't want to scare nobody."
ESPN's Todd Archer mentioned that Lamb said his GPS levels were too high on Wednesday. So, Lamb took it easy and did stretching and conditioning work instead of his usual workload on Thursday.
Lamb will do some work on Friday and practice on Saturday before the Cowboys head to Los Angeles, and the expectation is that he'll be ready to play.
The former Oklahoma Sooner felt something Thursday morning and as a result, he was held out for precautionary reasons according to Cowboys' head coach Mike McCarthy. With the Cowboys hitting the road to face the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams this Sunday with a chance to improve to 4-1, it makes perfect sense.
"We're just being smart," McCarthy said.
The Cowboys gave the keys to the wide receiver position to Lamb this offseason after trading Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns. He amassed a pedestrian 29 yards on just two receptions in the Cowboys' season opener, but it's been all uphill since then.
Lamb has steadily started to look like a no. 1 option with 21 receptions on 29 targets for 259 yards and two touchdowns over the last three games. He performed well in big moments also catching two passes on a game-winning drive against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 and scoring a touchdown to put the Cowboys up for good in the fourth quarter versus the New York Giants in the next game.
The Cowboys will need another big performance from Lamb against the Rams to keep pace with the Philadelphia Eagles who they face in Week 6.
