Day 2 prospect defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat from the Texas Longhorns was arrested in Austin, Texas, on Sunday, per a report from KAXN's Billy Gates. Sweat faces charges for driving while intoxicated.
Sweat is considered a draft target for the Dallas Cowboys. The team used one of its limited formal meetings on Sweat during the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this year.
The Cowboys have a big need at nose tackle after losing Johnathan Hankins in free agency. Currently, Mazi Smith is projected to be the starter but a disappointing rookie season opens the door for some competition at the position in an offseason where the team has claimed they want to improve in the running game.
The arrest likely won't knock Sweat too far down the Cowboys' board come draft day. Historically, the front office has shown a high tolerance for risk in the second round, taking players with both off-field question marks and health question marks in Day 2 of the draft.
The question now becomes how the NFL reacts to the unfortunate news as we await more details out of Sweat's arrest.
