The Dallas Cowboys escaped a potential upset by beating the Tennesee Titans 27-13 on Thursday Night Football.
It wasn't a pretty game (the brand-new uniforms were a thing of beauty, however) as the Cowboys once more appeared to play down to their rival.
The Titans entered the game starting Joshua Dobbs at quarterback despite signing him less than 10 days ago. Running back Derrick Henry also didn't play among many other starters on both sides of the ball.
Yet, the Cowboys struggled. On offense, they turned the ball over three times in the first half. On defense, busted coverages were frequent as well.
But even though the NFC East remains a mathematical possibility for the Cowboys, the #1 priority heading into this one was to stay healthy. Just get out of this game with your key starters intact. But the team leaves Tennesse significantly banged up and with concerns around a critical starter.
The injuries are headlined by Tyler Biadasz's ankle injury which ruled him out of the game. While details on the injury have yet to emerge, the starting center's absence forced the Cowboys to shift the offensive line. This is what it looked like for the rest of the game:
- LT Jason Peters
- LG Tyler Smith
- OC: Connor McGovern
- RG Zack Martin
- RT: Tyron Smith
While Biadasz was the player ruled out for the Cowboys, there was no shortage of scares on Thursday night.
Defensive backs Nahshon Wright and Jayron Kearse temporarily exited the game but returned to action. Malik Hooker appeared shaken up in the same play. While the Cowboys DBs seemed to have escaped with only a scare, they will likely be monitored closely moving forward. The Cowboys are already razor-thin in the secondary.
Sam Williams -who was inactive last weekend versus the Philadelphia Eagles after being involved in a car crash- was looked at in the sideline before returning to the game.
In the first half, Dak Prescott grabbed his right knee after being taken down and limped in between plays.
Even though it's good news that most of the banged-up players returned to the game, losing Tyler Biadasz for an extended period of time would be a tremendous blow. Hopefully, it's nothing serious for one of the most important pieces of the Cowboys offense.
