Cowboys' Trevon Diggs wants it all in more ways than one

One of the main priorities of the Dallas Cowboys this offseason was to be proactive when it came to several potential contract extensions, and they accomplished that with cornerback Trevon Diggs on Tuesday by giving him a five-year deal worth up to $104 million.
It was a win-win for both sides. Diggs got his long-term financial security, and the Cowboys get a top cornerback for five more years at a discounted rate. Diggs' $19.4 annual salary is tied for fifth among corners.
Now that he has his money, Diggs isn't about to get complacent, which he made clear when asked if he's at the top of his game yet.
"Hell no. I'm just starting," Diggs said. "Literally. … I feel like money isn't everything because, at the end of the day, you still have to go out there and perform. They give contracts to guys all the time and some guys don't perform after.
"My main goal is to stay consistent, to stay building on my career, to build a great resume so that I'll go down as one of the best DBs to play the game."
Diggs has wasted no time establishing himself as one of if not the best ball-hawking defensive backs in the NFL. Over his first three seasons, Diggs leads the league in interceptions (17) and pass breakups (49) which have led to multiple Pro Bowl selections and an All-Pro honor.
One big criticism of Diggs is that he can give up big yardage from time to time. He's a very instinctive corner and takes chances to make big plays, and yes, it has hurt him here and there.
The thing that people tend to forget about Diggs is that he was a wide receiver when he first went to Alabama. Diggs would switch to cornerback full-time during his sophomore campaign in 2017 so he's still learning certain nuances of the position.
Let's think about that. Diggs has been focused solely on his position for only six years and he's already putting forth elite-level ball production on the professional level, that's nothing to gloss over, and that's what the Cowboys are banking on.
Despite his success so far, Diggs wants more.
"I just want to be flawless, all the way around," said Diggs. "I want to have no flaws in my game. I want to be perfect."
The pursuit of perfection for Diggs takes its next step in 2023.
Dez Bryant was right about Trevon Diggs all along
He was spot on.
