Dak Prescott spoke out about his battle with depression and mental health, and Cowboys teammate Tyrone Crawford supported his quarterback on social media.

Talking about and being honest about mental health is not always easy for anybody. That certainly rings true for an NFL quarterback that is put through the ringer and is constantly under the spotlight.

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback has yet to reach his 28th birthday, but he has already lost his mother to a battle with cancer in 2013 and his oldest brother to suicide earlier this year. That is far more than anybody should have to go through.

To no surprise, the Cowboys quarterback struggled with his emotions. He recently spoke about his battles in an interview with journalist Graham Bensinger. You can watch the interview below:

Skip Bayless had controversial words on Prescott's struggles.

Unfortunately, not everybody supported Prescott.

Fox Sport 1's Skip Bayless discussed the subject on Thursday's Undisputed, where the long-time sports television personality said that "(he) don't have sympathy for (Prescott) going public with 'I got depressed'".

Unsurprisingly, Bayless received a ton of heat on social media for his comments.

Prescott's brother, Tad, even weighed in:

The topic grew so large that FS1 released a statement on the matter:

Tyrone Crawford tweeted out his support for Prescott.

The quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys is always one of the most polarizing athletes in all of sports. That is no different today with Prescott being in that position since 2016.

While everybody has an opinion on how good Prescott is on the field — everybody has opinion nowadays — it is very hard to dispute the fact that he is a very strong leader that commands respect from his teammates. That was true during his days at Mississippi State, and that has been the case since arriving in Dallas.

CBS Sports' Patrik Walker tweeted out on Thursday evening that Prescott showed that he is a leader and that if he was a Cowboys player he would "run through a brick wall for this dude". Cowboys defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford replied to Walker supporting just that.

Like Prescott, Crawford has been credited as a leader within the Cowboys locker room. There is no question that the Cowboys defense missed having him on the field last season as he was put on IR in October due to hip issues. Now healthy, Crawford will look to make an impact in Mike Nolan's defense.

More importantly, though, Crawford showed that he — and the team — is behind Prescott as their leader and their quarterback. Prescott has earned his teammates' respect, and his strength to share his struggle with depression likely earned him even more respect from his peers.

The Dallas Cowboys are very fortunate to have Dak Prescott as the face of the franchise.
