The Dallas Cowboys are in need of linebacker help after starter Leighton Vander Esch suffered a scary neck injury in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers that is set to put him on injured reserve.
In preparation for losing Vander Esch, the team brought in four linebackers for workouts on Wednesday, including Rashaan Evans, Tanner Vallejo, Brandon Smith and Jordan Evans.
Out of all four linebackers, Evans is the obvious answer for Dallas following his recent success with the Atlanta Falcons.
He's also the one that the Cowboys are expected to sign, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.
The former first-round pick of the Tennessee Titans in 2018 spent last fall with the Falcons. He started all 17 games for the Dirty Birds where he led the defense with 159 tackles in addition to registering two sacks, a forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries.
Evans also spent some time with the Philadelphia Eagles last month, however, he opted to leave for another team where he would get some real playing time. The Cowboys will be able to fulfill that wish immediately.
Dez Bryant sends the Cowboys a message they need to hear
They better listen to him.
