Six weeks of NFL football have been played, and one thing is clear. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is playing like one of the best signal-callers in the league. Coaches continue to rave about his preparation and performances, and statistics show that he deserves to be in the MVP conversation as of right now. With the weapons and coaching at his disposal, it is very likely he sticks in that convo, too.
In Week 6, his magic was on full display. The Cowboys fought back to defeat the New England Patriots in overtime on a patented extended play where Prescott hit WR Ceedee Lamb for a 35-yard touchdown.
The Numbers
He slung the football around the field all day long on Sunday and set a record against arguably the best football coach ever.
There is no question that Prescott is one of the best deep ball passers in the league now as well. Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore trusts him to push the ball downfield to his talented targets consistently. At the forefront, he has taken care of the ball for the most part on those throws, too. That makes all the difference.
Not to mention, putting points up on big plays can play a massive role in momentum. Dak and his receivers are doing that the most often of anyone.
Dak is on quite the pace statistically. Yes, it is only a pace, but he's proven through a third of the season that he can put up some ridiculously impressive numbers. As of right now, there is no reason to believe that he will hit a wall.
The Current Odds
The oddsmakers are taking notice, too. Prescott is getting the respect he deserves alongside fellow odds leader Kyler Murray. Tom Brady, Lamar Jackson, and Derrick Henry are the others at the heels of those two right now, probably.
Dak will rest up his injured calf during Dallas' Week 7 bye. Reports have been positive about a quick return, though. Hopefully, he will look to continue his MVP campaign for the Cowboys against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8.
