Dak Prescott is always under the microscope as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. That might be even more the case this season, with so much unknown surrounding the team entering the 2022 schedule.
Prescott will be throwing to new, unfamiliar faces while being protected by a work-in-progress offensive line featuring a rookie at left tackle. Needless to say, there is a good amount of uncertainty regarding the offense.
However, Prescott is not letting that deter his confidence. The Pro Bowl signal caller is excited about the opportunity to catch people by surprise. He used an appearance with the media as an opportunity to send a positive message.
Prescott even referred to his own success. There was a lot of unknown when Tony Romo went down in 2016 — and that was with Dak Prescott thriving in the preseason. Prescott rose to the occasion and turned in a rookie season for the ages.
"But y'all hadn't seen me as a rookie either," Prescott said regarding the amount of unproven players that the Dallas Cowboys will be counting on this season. "We know who we are and what we're going to do."
Dak Prescott has earned a reputation as a leader that teammates are drawn to. That kind of answer showcases the leadership ability that he has in a situation that he would have every right to be skeptical about.
Prescott oozing with confidence
Furthermore, Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz sees the confidence flowing from Prescott ahead of the season. Schultz points to how comfortable Prescott is and how well he has performed leading up to the regular season.
"He's so much more comfortable (than last year)," Schultz said. "He's got so much confidence coming into this year."
A healthy Dak Prescott is a scary proposition for opponents. He gives the Dallas Cowboys a legitimate chance to repeat as NFC East champions. Despite the big splashes that the Philadelphia Eagles have made this offseason.
CeeDee Lamb is still out wide, which gives Prescott a big-time weapon in the passing game. Dalton Schultz is a known commodity and the duo of Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard have the ability to make things happen on the ground.
Aside from that group, Prescott appears confident in rookie Jalen Tolbert, undrafted free agent Dennis Houston, and second-year pass catcher Simi Fehoko. Dallas is putting much more on Dak Prescott's plate, and he appears to be ready for the challenge.
