The Dallas Cowboys (12-4) are gearing up for a playoff run following this weekend's matchup against the Washington Commanders.

Allowing key players much-needed rest like LB Leighton Vander Esch, DT Johnathan Hankins and C Tyler Biadasz time to heal from their respective injuries. Key pieces on offense and defense.

In regards to defense, the Cowboys are still reeling from the losses of both cornerbacks Jourdan Lewis and Anthony Brown.

Having gone through circles trying to fill the other two spots alongside Trevon Diggs. Rookie DaRon Bland has stepped up in a fantastic way but they continue to struggle to find a proper fill at CB3.

Giving snaps to Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright, with Wright being a better option so far. As well as adding cornerbacks Mackensie Alexander and Trayvon Mullen to the practice squad. Having given Alexander playing time, in part, due to his connection with Senior Defensive Assistant George Edwards.

Now the Dallas Cowboys are bringing back another familiar face to Edwards. Adding three-time Pro Bowl CB Xavier Rhodes to the practice squad.

Rhodes is a 10-year vet who most recently spent time on the Buffalo Bills practice squad and was active for two games. Playing 72 defensive snaps and allowing 49 combined yards on seven targets in coverage.

Prior to that he spent seven successful season in Minnesota as a two-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler. Followed by two seasons in Indianapolis where he started all 29 games he played, causing three interceptions and 19 pass breakups, while allowing just 55.6% in coverage during that time.

The 32-year-old was released from the Bills earlier this week, and likely won't be active for Sunday's game against Washington.

Rhodes is not the Pro Bowl corner he once was but adds good value as a veteran defender on teams who have made deep playoff pushes. As well as adds relief to a secondary that needs qualified and experienced players.
