As far as on the field concerns go, the Dallas Cowboys have been criticized all off-season for their approach to team-building. Following the success's of their 12-5 season, the rest of the NFL went aggressive in free agency, while Dallas opted to buy low and allow their own players to walk.

Now, more off-field issues are arising. In an off-season that has featured an alleged murder connection with one of it's players, plus a paternity suit, fuel is being added to the fire.

On July 5th, the Dallas Cowboys tweeted out their new partnership with Black Rifle Coffee Company.

The veteran-owned Utah-based coffee company has come under fire (pun intended) in recent years with their support of former president Trump, as well as their perceived connection with Kyle Rittenhouse. A claim they have rebuffed. They have also been lauded for their continued support of active-duty military, first responders and veterans.

A spokesperson for the company issued this statement on the day of the announcement: “BRCC is proud to partner with the Dallas Cowboys, who are strongly committed to our mission of supporting veterans, first responders, and America’s men and women in uniform. The long-planned announcement was timed to coincide with the Independence Day holiday. America’s Team, America’s Coffee, America’s Birthday.”

This partnership comes on the heels of the deadly school shooting in Uvalde, Texas on May, 24. Plus just one day after multiple mass shootings on the 4th of July in Chicago and Philadelphia. Home cities to fellow NFL franchises.

To raise further eyebrows is the brand's many different types of flavors. Ranging from "Liberty Roast" and "Freedom Roast" coffees, to "Silencer Smooth Roast" to "Murdered Out Coffee Roast". Only to correlate more with the lack of awareness in the decision and timing of this deal.

This isn't the first time BRCC has partnered with an NFL team. Having partnered with Dallas Cowboys arch-rival, then named Washington Football Team. The deal was used to honor veterans weekly in the second quarter of each game.

Whereas this deal is seen as in bad taste and another example of the front office lack of common sense. While this deal itself is purely business, the Dallas Cowboys organization has had a number of recent embarrassments. Those have all been attributed to in-game production and building a depth chart. This, however, one is viewed as poor timing and insensitive.
