Dak Prescott is playing with big expectations for the Dallas Cowboys this season. He has spoken about how he feels much healthier than he has in recent years and has been putting it on display in OTA's.
Dak Prescott is coming off a record-setting season, with hopes of replicating success, despite the loss of many key players.
It seems as though even Las Vegas has high expectations for the Cowboys QB. Vegas Insider has their early MVP odds, with Dak ranking seventh:
- Josh Allen +700
- Patrick Mahomes +800
- Aaron Rodgers +800
- Tom Brady +900
- Justin Herbert +1100
- Joe Burrow +1300
- Dak Prescott +1400
Interesting to note that Dak is one of five Dallas Cowboys players on the ranking. Including players Ezekiel Elliott (+15000), Micah Parsons (+15000), CeeDee Lamb (+20000) and Tony Pollard (+25000).
If Prescott were to win the MVP award, it would be huge milestone in his career, as well as Cowboys lore. To date Emmitt Smith is the only Cowboy to win MVP, winning the award in 1993.
Amazing when considering QBs like Roger Staubach, Don Meredith, Troy Aikman and Tony Romo have all played at high levels in Dallas. Prescott winning the award would put him in a class by himself.
This will be the third year in a row Prescott ranks among the top-seven in early MVP Odds. In fact, his +1400 odds are the highest of his career to date.
Considering the alterations of the offensive line and wide receivers, if he can put up similar stats and win the NFC East again, it will be hard to argue against him. Undoubtedly cementing him as one of the unquestioned best QBs in the game.
He has a big hill to climb behind players like 4-time MVP Aaron Rodgers, 3-time winner Tom Brady and the other young superstar QBs in Allen, Burrow, Herbert and Mahomes. With the odds this close, there should be reason to believe he can achieve the honor.
