There has been no shortage of news surrounding Dak Prescott in the recent days, weeks, and even months. From his rehab process to the ongoing contract process, Prescott is being talked about nearly every day.

The franchise tag deadline is next week. As of right now, it appears that the Dallas Cowboys will place the tag on Presott for the second offseason in a row. This will allow the Cowboys to negotiate a deal with Prescott without letting their quarterback hit the free agent market.

Dallas will have the opportunity to get a deal done during the free agent period. If that does not happen, the Cowboys would get another shot to close the deal in July. It is no secret that Prescott wants to be highly-paid. Still, the Cowboys seem to be a little reluncant to go along with the quarterback market that has been established.

We have already seen quarterbacks around the league change teams this offseason. Matthew Stafford to the Rams, Jared Goff to the Lions, and Carson Wentz to the Colts. Deshaun Watson is another name that will likely be moved at some point.

It was reported last week that Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson could also be looking for a change of scenery. The Cowboys were one of the four teams on Wilson's wishlist if traded from Seattle. That certainly sparked a ton of conversation, but it would not make a ton of sense for either side.

BRANDON MARSHALL SAYS TO BUILD AROUND DAK

Amidst the speculation of the Cowboys and Seahawks somehow striking a deal involving Wilson and Prescott, a former NFL wide receiver spoke out. Brandon Marshall, who played 13 seasons and was a six-time Pro Bowler, shared his thoughts.

Marshall played with Wilson and the Seahawks during his final season in the league, catching 11 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown in 2018. The 2012 All-Pro selection believes that the Cowboys need to go ahead and pay Prescott, sharing his thoughts with TMZ Sports.

"Dallas, you have your guy," Marshall told TMZ. "Pay him! Let the world know he is the guy!"

Marshall continued to speak on Prescott, Wilson, and the Cowboys.

"Continue to build your team around [Dak]," Marshall said. "You know, the grass isn't always greener on the other side because you don't know Russ' style and how he operates and how he moves."

Marshall explained that he would not make a Prescott for Wilson trade if he was the Cowboys, because "to me, you have your guy."

We will likely have to wait longer until we get a resolution to the Cowboys and Prescott contract saga. Prescott deserves to be paid market value, but the Cowboys appear to be holding out for a discount.

Regardless, Brandon Marshall believes it would be in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys to pay their quarterback and to build around Dak Prescott.
