The latest mock draft from Pro Football Network has the Dallas Cowboys landing a high-risk/high-reward player in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Pro Football Network has the Cowboys selecting LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte with the No. 26 overall pick.

From Pro Football Network:

I went off my board for this pick. It was a battle between Kayshon Boutte and Flowers, but Boutte is a better fit for Dallas and could be the best receiver to come out of this draft two years down the road. The Cowboys need an additional playmaker, and adding through the draft is the best way to add a cost-controlled contributor.

This could be the best pick in the draft or it could be a complete disaster.

It's really that wild of a variance when it comes to Boutte.

The Louisiana native has the talent to be a Ja'Marr Chase-type weapon in the NFL — he's that talented.

There were times in college when Boutte looked unstoppable.

For example, as a true freshman in 2020, Boutte went off against Ole Miss for 14 receptions for 308 yards and three touchdowns.

Boutte's had other huge games as well, like his six receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown against Georgia in the SEC Championship game this past season. The Bulldogs had the best defense in the nation, but Boutte was still able to put up great numbers against a secondary loaded with future NFL talent.

The problem is that Boutte has disappeared at times. One catch for four years against Auburn isn't what you expect from a first-round pick. That disappearance appears to have more to do with his mindset than defenses shutting him down. That's where the risk comes in — you gotta show up to play every day in the NFL.

Boutte, however, is such an impressive talent that it would be tough to pass on him at the end of the first round. The Cowboys could definitely use another playmaker. And perhaps Boutte will thrive in a Dallas uniform.

It's still a bit too early to know exactly how the Cowboys plan on attacking the first round, but Boutte would certainly be an intriguing addition for Dallas.
