The Dallas Cowboys lost more than their first game of the season on Sunday. They will go into the next few games with an 0-1 record for an undetermined amount of time without QB Dak Prescott, OL Connor McGovern, edge Tarell Basham and S/LB Jayron Kearse.

A word to describe the game: expected. The front office continues to insist the team is being built the right way, but Sunday was just a preview of just how excruciating the off-season was.

Now, others from outside are weighing in with one game completed. Starting with The Athletic.

The publication's latest rankings, written by Bo Wulf of The Athletic Philadelphia, are now out. After week one the Dallas Cowboys, according to Wolf, rank dead last.

Wolf writes:

Are the Cowboys the worst team in the league? Probably not, but no team had a more precipitous drop in vibes this week. With Dak Prescott out six to eight weeks, the Cowboys are in danger of falling out of contention with a replacement quarterback in Cooper Rush they felt so strongly about they released him during roster cutdowns. Not as concerning but noteworthy nonetheless is how bad the offense looked even before Prescott’s injury. By EPA per drive, this was the worst offense in the league in Week 1. And though Jerry Jones insists the team will move forward with Rush, there should be urgency to find a better option lest the season is lost within a matter of weeks.

Micah Parsons sure is good though.

Everything written is correct, with the exception of the timeline for Dak Prescott to return. As Jerry Jones has stated on 105.3 The Fan, 4-6 games could be more accurate (we'll see).

Statistically, the Cowboys were the worst team in the league in week one. Being the only team to NOT score a touchdown. With the questions at QB and WR core, who knows how long that could continue.

Time will tell if and when Dak can return. Until then, the Dallas Cowboys are likely to be at or near the bottom of more power rankings such as this.
