The Dallas Cowboys are having their most active day since the end of OTA's. In an off-season of many downs and few ups, the team-building continues.

Multiple roster moves are now in the books, with the signing of two players and the placing of another on injured reserve.

  • LB Devante Boyd (knee) – placed on season-ending IR.
  • K Lirim Hajrillahu – re-added to the roster.
  • LB Christian Sam – officially signed.

The loss of Boyd created a void in an already light LB room in competition. With the addition of Sam, it creates gives more bodies in a position of need.

Sam, a native of near-by Allen, TX, was drafted in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Arizona State by the New England Patriots.

Subsequently, he was released during final roster cuts before being added to the Miami Dolphins practice squad. Also spending time on the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions practice squads as well.

In 2022, he was drafted in the 2021 USFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Bandits, before being released on June 7, 2022. Later signed by the New Orleans Breakers.

He has yet to register an NFL tackle.

With the re-addition of Hajrillahu, it gives incoming undrafted free agent, Jonathan Garibay competition for the Dallas Cowboys kicker spot. A position that currently favors the rookie Garibay.

This is Hajrillahu's second stint in Dallas. Playing in one game for Greg Zuerlein, who missed time due to COVID. Completing all five extra point attempts.

Despite neither player having an easy or clear path to the roster, they do add areas this team lacked. Competition at positions in question.

Even if neither makes the final roster, it puts pressure on players trying to make it too. Bringing out their best.
